Las Visionarias Cooperativa
Las Visionarias Cooperative is a worker-owned catering organization located in Southeast Chicago that specialize in Mexican dishes, including vegan and vegetarian options. Their focus is on providing delicious, authentic food while fostering a tight-knit, sustainable community.
Like our mothers and grandmothers, Las Visionarias put a lot of love and dedication into their food. If you have a particular dish that makes you feel especially nostalgic or that transports you to those family moments, or a recipe or story related to those dishes, tell us, we would love to cook it!
Las Visionarias was founded by immigrant women in Chicago. It began as part of the Southeast Cooperative Business Incubator, which supports the development of worker cooperatives in the region. As a worker cooperative, Visionarias is owned and managed by its own workers. They pay above-market wages, provide benefits, and all employees are eligible to become part owners of the business.
Las Visionarias collaborates with the Centro de Trabajadores Unidos, a community organization that advocates for the rights of immigrant and non-immigrant workers. Together, they work to build healthier more sustainable communities throughout the southeast side.
